There is a recent trend of biblical and faith based movies that I find interesting. In the span of three months we have four high-profile films featuring faith in God. Let’s take a closer look at each one of these movies and their themes.
Is this a direct response to the glut of zombie, witchcraft and vampire films that flooded the theaters two years ago.
The first up is Son of God. It’s in theaters now. It is retelling of the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. The team that created the Bible blockbuster mini-series crafted this one. Take a look at the trailer.

Paramount goes to the Old Testament for the next big story.
The next one that is due is Noah, Strangely enough there was a headline story in The Hollywood Reporter this morning.
The studio has released internal research and “strongly disputes” a Variety story. The group behind the poll stands by it: “We did everything but speak from a burning bush and say, ‘This is about ‘Noah.’ “Paramount Pictures on Tuesday took the unusual step of revealing internal studio research to counter the results of a dubiously worded survey released by a faith-centric organization that suggested little interest among religious audiences in its upcoming film Noah. The studio also took the rare step of criticizing a media outlet for publicizing that survey. The film hits theaters March 28.

The third movie on the immediate horizon is based on a book.

The next movie up is Heaven Is For Real, and tells the story of a four year old boy who experienced Heaven during surgery. The boy then shares knowledge of things he couldn’t have known, such as meeting his miscarried sister (whom no one had ever told him about) and perfect details of his great-grandfather who died 30 years before he was born. The movie is based on a true story. The film releases on April 20th.
