Sapp’s new song, “He Was There,” is an uplifting reminder of how we made it through the challenges of the pandemic. He explained, “It wasn’t because we were clever or talented—it’s because God was there, making a way for us.” The track speaks directly to the resilience that faith can bring, especially in tough times.
As Sapp preps for the Reunion 2.0 tour, he’s excited to hit the stage alongside gospel greats like Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, and The Clark Sisters. “It’s going to be something special. All of us are performing our biggest hits,” Sapp said. “It’s a blessing to be part of something like this.”

But even though he’s still delivering powerful performances, Sapp hinted that his days of heavy touring might be winding down. “I love performing, but my heart is really with my church in Fort Worth, Texas. Being on the road all the time just isn’t my calling anymore.” While he’ll still do spot performances, the long stretches of touring are coming to a close.
During the conversation, Cheryl Jackson reflected on how Sapp’s music always pulls her closer to her faith. “When I need a good cry or a moment with God, I put on one of your songs,” she shared.
