Award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jabari Johnson joined Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to share what’s new in his life and music, including the release of his brand-new single “Can’t Stop.” From marriage and fatherhood to worship leadership and creativity, Johnson opened up about the growth and balance required to navigate his calling.

Jabari kicked off the conversation by introducing “Can’t Stop,” a song he wrote two years ago but just recently released. Recorded in Dallas with friends, the track centers on uncontainable praise. “When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that he’s done for me, I just can’t stop praising his name,” he explained.

Erica praised the track and pointed out that it’s been a while since his last single. “Face to Face Friday” dropped in 2022, and Jabari acknowledged it had been a minute. He felt “Can’t Stop” was the right song for this moment. “This is the one for this season,” he said. “When I first sang it and saw the response, I knew that was the approval I needed.”

Much has changed since Jabari’s last appearance on the show. He got married, recently celebrated a birthday, and he and his wife are expecting their first child. All of this, he says, has shaped both his ministry and his mindset. “It’s taught me patience,” he said. “But God doesn’t just hand you patience. You go through things that teach you how to wait, how to grow. Leadership is more than performing. It’s about building character.”

Jabari currently serves as a worship leader at New Life Church in Chicago but lives in Dallas, commuting to Chicago every first and third week of the month. Balancing church, home life, and a music career hasn’t been easy—but he credits his wife, Jasmine, for keeping everything grounded. “God blessed me with someone who understands the calling,” he said. “She grew up with a traveling bishop for a father, so she gets it.”

As for what’s next, Jabari shared that while most of his focus right now is on preparing for fatherhood, fans can expect more music later this year. “I might drop an EP in October. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself for a full album, but something’s coming,” he teased.

He encouraged listeners to follow him on Instagram (@JabariJohnson), YouTube, and Facebook for updates and new content.

Before ending the interview, Jabari thanked Erica for her consistent support of independent artists. “A lot of people don’t share their platform,” he said. “But every Friday, you highlight new songs and artists. We all notice it. So thank you.”

Erica replied, “It’s my privilege to do it. I’m so proud of you. Keep spreading the gospel.”

Jabari’s new single “Can’t Stop” is available now on all streaming platforms.
